Savory Caprese Bread – A Flavor-Packed Twist on Classic Caprese

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)

  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella (sliced or shredded)

  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves

  • 1 clove garlic (minced, optional)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt, olive oil, and water. Knead 8 minutes, then let rise 1 hour.

  • Roll dough into a rectangle. Brush with olive oil and garlic.

  • Layer tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil evenly.

  • Roll tightly, seal seam, and place seam-side down.

  • Brush with egg wash. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden.

  • Cool 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Pat tomatoes dry to avoid soggy bread.

  • Add balsamic drizzle for extra flavor.

  • Can be made with store-bought pizza dough.
